I somewhat agree but as an American the cops do too much here and it's scary like they sometimes unload a whole clip on a man, women, and kids sometimes. Racism still exists in the USA so cops just don't give a f sometimes! The justice system is **** over here it really is but if you corporate they don't give you crap for the most part it's not as easy as the world makes it seems there it's a shit load of paperwork you gotta do in America it could take almost a year until you're approved for a gun license! Lastly there is tons of mass shootings here like every 2 weeks-1 month not even joking, ever since Trump has came to office the youth here think he's a god for some dumb reason for real!

A year to get a gun license?? I can go over to the Tax office right now and get one there. I dont know what America you're living in. Now if you have a criminal record than yeah it will either take a long time or they will flat out not let you get one, depending on the crime. Also if you look at the Statistics President Trump is far better than President Obama was. It's not that the youth think he is a "God" there are actual facts and statistics to prove he is one of the better Presidents.

I personally believe guns aren't the problem, it's the people who have the guns.

Let me give an example of something.
It is easier to get a gun, than a women to get birth control pills, or a person with diabetes to get insulin. I think that getting a gun should be harder than it is today with more background checks and more time put into reviewing if the buyer should have a gun. Not just walking into a Walmart and purchasing a gun in under 45 minutes..

And yes I know, "Right to Bear Arms". But when was that written? When guns only shot one bullet at a time and it took a minute to reload to shoot another bullet. How many mass shootings were they really worried about?

Guns are not the problem, the problem is mental health. I worked in a behavioral health unit, (Psych Unit) for 2 years during those 2 years i saw people from all walks of life and all different problems. I also worked in the ER and worked with a lot of cases of "Demons in my head" patients. I learend through seeing these patients there was a cycle they would come in feeling homicidal or suicidal, get drugged up and then leave. It would take only a few more days and they would be back again. I use guns a lot for hunting, going to the range, and sport shooting. I understand if having an ak47 makes you feel safe but I don't believe it is necessary to own unless you are in the Ukraine fighting back the Russians. I do enjoy the Multi Caliber AR's because i could use it to shoot .22lr then the next day i could swap it out to use a 5.56 for deer hunting, thats awesome. The government may say they will ban guns or even State representatives. Guns will never be banned they will just have restrictions, for example Massachusetts allows only 5 round magazines if you have any more than 5 rounds its automatically a felony. These laws don't hit criminals as hard as it hits law abiding citizens who like to collect and shoot guns.

Are we talking about the legal ways of buying a gun or the illegal way?

When i was young and was trying to get my license my father used to tell me when it comes to police do exactly as they say, they don't know who you are or if you are carrying a gun or not, everything they do is for their safety and yours. If your pulled over or stopped by police do not be rude and follow their directions. All these videos of police emptying entire mags into people goes back to their training. Eliminate the threat, if police are threatened by your actions what ever you are doing in what ever situation they must respond as they are trained. If you have seen some videos of police mag dumping a suspect right after they reload they will say "Hands up" this is a command straight out of their training. Those police are so pumped up on adrenaline that they have to make split second decisions. Yes there is racism in some departments and some morals but sometimes these police officers have to respond and when talking, taser fails they have to respond with what they are trained.

I don't know where in the US you live maybe California but you do not have to wait a year to buy a gun, in my state at age 21 i can buy a rifle or shotgun, at age 21 i can also get a blue card but that requires a test taken, a range test and all my paperwork being approved by the government, my state house, my town Governor and the chief of police of my district which includes a 1 hour interview with the chief of police. Now if I can do all that i will be able to carry a hand gun so this might be the process you are talking about that takes a year but at most it only took me 5 months.

Aww man that's a lengthy process you have to go through , I stay in Georgia & all I have to do is go to my local courthouse & they simply run a background, take my fingerprints, & they'll call me once my background clears. Also Georgia is a "Stand Your Ground" state so once you have a license to carry if you feel threatened you have the right to you use lethal or deadly force.

Yeah I'm also from the UK and like I said in an earlier reply only law enforcement should be able to carry guns as the streets are getting more dangerous especially with knives etc in London

Being an American, living in a rural area where we aren't even on most U.S maps, guns are our culture here. Family time is hunting, going to the range, going to camp or a place in the woods and just target shooting. I believe the Bill of Rights was written for a protected future. I believe any armament the police can have should be civilian accessible. All gun laws are infringements. Why should I be considered a criminal because I like something that liberal media hates? Just because I own an 'AR-15' doesn't mean i'm a threat, it means I have a tool for a specific job. You wouldn't use a hammer to cut wood. You wouldn't use a bolt action rifle on a pack of coyotes harassing livestock and destroying your property. In my mind, people who dislike guns and know NOTHING about firearms shouldn't speak. I don't go around giving my opinions on climate change because i'm not as informed and I shouldn't rely on media to tell me how to feel. People need to do their own research and stop relying on emotions. If this really is an issue of people getting killed, alcohol, tobacco, cars, and heavy machinery would already all be banned. The laws already set in place do fine on background checks, at-least here. You can't walk out with a gun the same day you buy it, and buying a pistol is a process in itself which is even more of a hassle. There is no gun show loophole, there never has been. You CAN NOT avoid a background check unless you are buying a firearm illegally or purchasing from a private party. But even then for specific ones, you still have to submit a background check before you sell your weapon to your son.
