I was cleaning an Xbox one out and cleaning the APU to apply new thermal paste and somehow managed to knock one of the tiny resistors/capacitors off the top of the APU chip.

I thought I had just killed the console but I put it all back together and to my surprise everything is working great.

However I was wondering if it will cause any problems in the future or if it's not really needed?

I have lost the little capacitor/resistor so I can't try and resolder it back on.

Can I get away with leaving it off?

Here's a photo of the one that got knocked off

If you knocked off a capacitor off the top of the APU chip, and are not experiencing any issues with the console you should be fine. Luckily It wasn't an important one, If It was your console would not turn on or operate at all then I would worry. Just be sure to keep an eye on your console.

Yeah it seems to be working fine for past few days, i was only cleaning the old thermal paste off with a Q tip and it just fell off.

i thought it was going to be dead but i guess i got lucky, will make sure im extra carefull from now on around the APU.
