QA and Biomedical Engineer at a Biomed Device manufacturer (Mostly Insulin Delivery devices, and Prosthesis).

I don't have a set day plan really, it all depends on where we're at in the manufacturing/design/planning phase. I work closely with the FDA/CDRH to make sure we're compliant and not going to end up with a lawsuit. I also help projects go from the whiteboard to market.

Most of my day is back and forth in Emails, trying to schedule meetings, see where we're at with a certain process, requesting info I need to report to the CDRH, going over 3D Models and drafts of things that are in the works, and posting dumb shit in the shoutbox.

Today is kind of special though, in the afternoon we'll get to fit a sponsored child (Low income, kind of a "make-a-wish" thing without anyone having to die) with a new Prosthesis.

Day One:
0855: Pass down - previous shit gives briefing on any operational changes from their shift, any upcoming events or things we need to know
0900: Rig checks - check equipment, check kits, place gear in a state of operational readiness, cycle power and hydraulic tools, run vehicles, etc.
1100: Begin daily duties, these vary by weekday
1200-1300: Lunch begins
1400: Resume daily duties
OR
1400: Begin training - length can vary from 1 hour to 4 hours depending on what the task is
1700: Dinner - working hours are generally over, time to play on phones, catch up on documentation etc.
2300: Bed

Day Two:
0700: Wake up and do it all again, aside from rig checks and pass down
0800: Catch up on any documentation that was started overnight
1000: Begin daily duties

All of this is done while simultaneously running 9-1-1 calls that can vary in both type and length. Some can be 10 minutes, others can be 10 hours. Some may be calls to change the batteries on a smoke detector, others may be performing CPR, treating medical emergencies, rescuing trapped victims from a vehicle, treating trauma patients such as shootings, stabbings, crashes etc., to going on the roof of a burning structure to cut a hole in the roof or going into a burning home and putting out a fire.

I talk to people. And ride around my state. Pretty much it. Aside from that eating out here and there. Pretty laid back.

I do work when I am at work. I always try to avoid leisure activities during work time as it doesn't satisfy me.
