Hi! I am wondering why my pc is performing as it does. Is it supposed to be like this or should it performe better generally?
I've got a gtx 970 from gigabyte, core i5 4690k running 3.5ghz(4ghz OC) on a z97 board, with 16gb ram. Yet i get lag spikes on Fortnite and framdrops constantly. I understand that it will drop fps when dropping in from the bus. But while i am in a fight it keeps laging and i miss my shots and everything... I have locked my fps to 144fps because i have a 144hz monitor. I have all of my settings on low. but 1080p ofc. I just don't understand what that is lacking to keep a game such as fortnite 144fps on my pc. Thank you in advance for tips and tricks |

In the case for Fortnite, people like to think the game is perfect, it's not. It does have some stuttering problems in the game and can vary from a lot of different possibilities.
Biggest honest answer I can give you though is google it. I'd like to say something else, but that's the reality. It could be as simple as you needing to actually run the game in admin mode, it could be your internet, it can be that you have a bottleneck in your CPU/GPU, it could be your settings, it could even be something you need to stop using from recording software to chrome, other background software running, turning off or uninstalling your anti-virus software. It can be drivers for your graphics card, a bios update you need, this list goes on and on, and on. TL:DR google use it. |

How are your cooling options? Are you in a warm state that will allow your cpu to hit too high of temps? could be possible thermal throttle.? replace your thermal paste if so. |

Sage wrote How are your cooling options? Overclocking makes your CPU run pretty hot, so if you have a stock cooler on it that could be the issue, which can be fixed by just adjusting clock speeds to stock. If you have a nice aftermarket cooler then it could be as simple as a thermal paste replacement. Your graphics card is older but still perfectly capable for running modern games well. Maybe not so much pushing 144 frames through your monitor every second, but you still SHOULDNT be having issues. I would recommend checking for a driver update. Hope this helps! |

What kind of HDD do you have?
Also Fortnite when a major update hit PC, had my game lag spiking every 10 seconds. Pretty much unplayable. This was due to fortnite and not my specs. Mainly as any and every other game ran smoothly |
