Hello! My truck used to idle at around 800 RPMs and now it's always idling at around 1000-1200 rpms... the weather is the same. I only drive this truck about 4 miles a day.

Could be an issue with a sensor or possibly a clogged converter. If you want to check for a clogged cat, open your intake box a tiny bit (don't remove the clamp) and have someone give it some gas. If you feel air coming back out of the intake box it probably has a clogged cat.

Okay I'll try this.

Do you have a check engine light on? I'm almost certain that a clogged cat doesn't cause a higher idle. Most likely a dirty iac (idle air control) vavle or a dirty throttle body. Could also be as simple as a crack in the vacuum hose.

This is gonna make me sound so stupid.... but yes I do have a check engine light on. I can't remember if the idling was before or after the light came on... it came on one night when I was being a little reckless and floored it down this open street one night... I honestly have been playing it off saying I probably just tripped something and it's fine. I'll go get it checked out and see what they say

Moonshine got good suggestions.

Or also perhaps coolant related. So many things to consider.

Take it out for a longer drive (an hour plus) and see if that changes anything. I'm not sure if you can work on your truck where you're at, but on those trucks it's not too hard to take the intake off and look at the throttle body, it may need a good cleaning. While you're in there, check the air filter. If that's full that can cause the engine to do some wonky stuff.

Also when you say idle, are you in drive or park? Another thing to look at, is your fan on (for heat or AC)? If you have it on max then it will also increase RPM.
