I only need a cpu, motherboard, new ram, and maybe some more storage.
My old pc is starting to get out dated and I just got a new psu and gpu. Can someone help me out please?? |

If you don't answer these questions, we will post them or refer you back to this post. What is your budget and currency? What will you use the PC for? Do you need a monitor? If not, what monitor(s) will you be using? Do you need a keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals? Do you need an operating system? Will you overclock? Anything else we should know? If you don't give anyone a price tag to work with or use case scenario how is anyone supposed to help you? The CPU I recommend is a 3950X, the RAM, Trident Z 64GB at 3600MHz, and storage? Samsung 870 Pro 2TB NVME SSDs. |

SSDs need only a SATA connection so you'd be able to use any moherboard. NVME SSDs however do need a NVME connection line and the correct size for it. Keep in mind motherboards don't limit themselves really in much in terms of what they can do until you account for size and design philosophy.
A good example being extreme overclocking, most people would see a PS/2 and think "WTF is this ancient thing?" While someone overclocking would be excited for this because USB ports when temperatures go below 0C tend to malfunction. PS/2 survives such usually much longer. It's a good idea to really take a dive into what a motherboard's design is FOR rather than what it HAS. A more recent example being the 570 Motherboards for AMD having heat spreaders over their NVME slots. These are pretty decent for GEN3 but for GEN4 it's not an entirely optimal option due to heat and it's fluctuations. Almost entirely requiring their heatsinks to continue being installed on themselves making the heat spreaders worthless. And in some cases of them not being separate parts, diminished materials and cost to a motherboard you could very well end up rightfully angered over. NVME Location on a motherboard On that note though.... There's a good amount of options for some Micro ATX and ATX motherboards at a cheaper price, keep in mind though 21 tends to look at the best value where as I look at the best for the future. If he's saying to go with something, I hardly ever have a stance to disagree on. Nor would I disagree with his current choice of the MSI 450 Tomahawk. Good board, good reviews. ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX ASRock B450M Pro4-F Micro ATX MSI B450M BAZOOKA V2 Micro ATX ASRock Fatal1ty B450 GAMING K4 ATX Gigabyte B450 AORUS M Micro ATX ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX Personally though I'd go with This 9400F, MSI Z390 and 16GB at 3000MHz. Slightly over budget, but you'd get similar performance to an 8700K and 9700K. |

I recommend the B450 Tomahawk because it's a better quality motherboard than any other AM4 motherboard up to like $150. So, it's going to be better "for the future" than any other sub $120 AM4 mobo, especially if OP decides to upgrade to an R9 when they're cheap on the used market.
