XC wrote The whole reputation system has gone to hell. It used to be used to divide you between other members on the forums. If you had a lot of reputation, it meant that you deserved it.

Should there be a new system put into place? Yes there should
Should the current system be removed? No, but should be discontinued

Reasons:
A new system would mean that you would have to earn reputation.
The current system would stay in place but would be discontinued therefor, it would never go up or down.

There needs to be a new system put in place for the future of TTG because, who knows where the website will end up.

However, you shouldn't be to worried about reputation as there are plenty of milestones/badges that you can work towards and achieve across the board. That is what makes you stand out from all the rest, think of reputation as a cookie, once you have one, you want more.

I slightly disagree, the only ones who would get real "reputation" would be the gifters & staff. Staff is more of an appreciation, gifting is sort of paying. Reputation is earned, not bought. In other aspects; it's greatly appreciated hence the badges, usernames, custom bios etc. Reputation should be earned by time rather than "popularity".

No. But then again, reputation shouldn't mean anything. I've seen people on other sites with high amounts of reputation and vouches and they still scam out. At least in sales or purchases, I wouldn't pay much attention to reputation. It's something that can be easily manipulated.

To be devil's advocate, very rarely have I seen a member on this site with high rep scam out which may show it has a meaning on this site?

It has devalued yes but if we were to change it what would we do with the people already repped up who have got it from the shoutbox and boosting? Badges are the new rep in my opinion.

To me, rep on the site basically showed off the most active members, whether it be in here or be on the forum, it was like the cool guys of the site, the ones young me aspired to get to eventually, like @r00t I'll use you for example
