Just curious if there is anything to do when you get scammed on lookalike chinease websites?
Has anyone else here or family member been in a situation like this if so what did you's do?

My mum and my granda both lost money, one of the websites was a nike look alike looked like the real website and after my mum spent £90 on a pair of trainers a few weeks later they sent her a cheap necklace so we emailed them about it and they said sorry could we send a picture as proof, we did so and they have ignored us for about a month now, afterwards my mum looked up the website name and they are known for scamming people and sending cheap items that are wrong can't remember the website name of the top of my head, my granda also orderd an apple item and got sent a scarf... like what in the f*ck,

So just came here to ask other than emailing them that will more than likely lead to no where is there anything possible to do to get a refund or for them to send the proper item, if we told our bank about the situation could they do a refund? or is that just a sh*t one situation were there is nothing to do and just take the L, and will be a lesson learned to my mum and granda that they should be extra careful when ordering xmas presents online.

If posts like these are not allowed sorry peeps just wasn't sure where to ask.

You can contact your bank and raise whats called a "Dispute". The bank will then contact the company or make an attempt and wait a certain amount of time for a response. You will be required during this process to provide an invoice of proof and also email correspondence that you have attempted to contact the company.

This isnt the end of the road and you havent completely lost your money however i cannot assure you 100% that the bank will be able to retrieve the funds but theirs a high chance they can.

The best way forward would be to gather as much evidence as you can from your side and everything that they sent you in emails and save them. Record the time that it has taken for them to respond to you and make your own case out of it and then report it to your bank and the police.

Also, if you made any purchases through Paypal, then contact the customer service line as soon as possible and provide them with as much details as possible. They will then build there own case up and trace back to see if they've had any problems with these frauds in the past. If it turns out that they haven't, then they will review the case and mark as a dispute and you will hear back from them as soon as possible.

You could also take this further as in to court if it's worth your while. You wont be the only people that this has happened to, so many others will be feeling the same as yourself. It's not nice being scammed, so take as many steps forward as you can to try and stop these frauds.

I hope you get this sorted dude. Feel free to HMU with a PM if you need some help or guidance as to what you can do from this point forward.

No need to try and contact them in pertinence to a refund, just dispute the payment through your bank or credit union and they'll take care of it.

Only thing you can remotely do is get into contact with your bank and inform them of the situation.

As someone who has been scammed multiple times on other forums, I'd say that trying to open a dispute (if you used PayPal) is an efficient way to "get back" at a scammer.

Sometimes it doesn't exactly work out, though. If you can't recover your money, get the user banned from the site (they'll probably just make another account so lol), cut your losses and move on.

It hurts even more when you purchased an account or a service with BTC and got scammed, no way to pull that money back.

The best advice I can give you is to teach your parents how to check if a site is legit or not.

Here are a bunch of tips on how to check how legit a website is

Call you bank and dispute the charge and maybe educate your parents on scams and if you don't know much about scams yourself do some Googling and you should be able to find the information you need but if you want you can even contact the sites web host and let them know what's going on and they might shut down the website due to scamming you can look up the websites information by looking this up on Google "website look up" and many sites come up that allow you to look up websites information.
