hello everyone, so just to start out i am 18 i live with my parents.
i work my own job, which makes me a decent amount a month.
i really want a motorcycle (Ninja 300)
i recently just got my mother on board for me to get one as in me saying they will not pay for any of it.
i will pay for the insurance, including my car payment each month. also i said i will take a motorcycle learning course and all im getting it for is entertainment and just going out for a ride on a nice day.
but then we have my dad on the other hand who is completely against it and will not even consider talking about me buying a bike. "you will not have a motorcycle while you are living in my house." he said.
i just wanna know if theres anything i can do to try to get him on board with me getting a bike
-thank you Merry Christmas

Ask him why... Let him get his point across as to why he doesn't want you to have one then come to a compromise.

Otherwise, you're 18 with your own money, buy the thing and tell him to get lost!

It shouldn't come to that. But if he has a 'valid' point, talk it through with him and see what happens. Do you know why he is so against you getting a bike?

That's a fair point. But he can't really stop you buying it. It might cause tension for a week or two but it shouldn't cause that much of an issue.

But then again I'm not sure on your releationship.

me and him are very close, if anything this will be the first thing ever i go "behind his back"
for.
also another point he does pay for all of my insurance car payment, food and i live there so i do get where hes coming from.

Depends if the bike outweighs your relationship with him then. He sounds pretty set in his mind. Since you have a car I'm guessing the bike is for just the fun in the sun weekends?

But again, try and come up with a compromise with him.

His house his rules my friend, once you move out you'll understand that he's just trying to protect you.
My rents wouldn't let me get a bike either while living at home but since living out of home it's literally free reign.
