If your parents are similar to mine, if I went and bought a bike (for example) and I was specifically told not to, I would either have my parents on my back about paying half the rent or they would give me a warning to start saving for an apartment. Yeah, you may be 18 and can purchase what you want, but that also means that they don't have to let you live with them anymore. If they aren't those kind of people then just buy it lol

Craig wrote Ask him why... Let him get his point across as to why he doesn't want you to have one then come to a compromise.

Otherwise, you're 18 with your own money, buy the thing and tell him to get lost!

More like his Dad will tell him get lost. If you're living under your parents roof, not paying any bills, you still do as they say and respect there wishes. At least that's how I was raised.

Try to explain to him why you want it and tell him he has nothing to worry about because your paying for it and going to a learning course but it's his house his rules then again your 18 you can do whatever you want with your money that you earned maybe don't keep it at the house? Maybe park it down the street? Either way I think once you get it he will be mad for a little but will get over I don't think you getting a motorcycle is gonna the end of the world for him.

You will get bored of a 300 pretty quick and wonder what it's like to have a bigger bike. - Personal experience.

a mid 2000s zx6r would be pretty cool. Depends on what style of bike you're going for

My dad is the same way he gets mad but gets ok with it soon after but remind him your 18 you can legally make your own decision/life choices so he doesn't need to keep a eye on you 24/7 tell him your responsible and can take care of yourself and want some space/time for yourself to make your own decisions and if you mess up somehow it's ok because that happens in life just get back up and continuing going.
