Mine done this a lot and it was my hard drive failing! Was so so loud and used to literally be so loud I couldn't even run it but then if I restarted and set it a certain way it would stop, ended up replacing hard drive and it was quiet again |

I agree it could possibly be your hard drive if you have a mechanical drive. Inside those are little disks think of a record player. It spins just like that and has a little tip that pulls info off the drive as needed. I fix PC's for a living and have a few times heard hard drives make a scratching sound. Might be time to replace it. |

mine started to do this turns out it was overheating. if its in a tight space i would recommend moving it somewhere it can breath easily |

As you have already talked about, it could be a case fan grinding against a cord that you didn't tuck away or it could be a hard drive failing. I wouldn't imagine a hard drive failing being that loud where you would be hearing it over your headphones or through your case or whatever. But, I guess it is a possibility. Have you noticed any issues like longer loading times or any drive errors on your PC? |

Could be a hard drive bearing thats going bad, or if you have watercooling, the pump. |
