Hey everyone so I bought my PC around 4-5 years ago maybe? I am wanting to upgrade my CPU or GPU, or whatever anyone recommends.

The thing is, I use my PC for mostly gaming and I dont play a lot anymore because I have a fulltime job now. I would still like to upgrade to at least get more FPS in games such as CSGO, fortnite, etc. I get pretty good frames but it just lags at times and its annoying.

My current PC: pcpartpicker.com/user/Jabbstur/sa...iew=7GfzK8

If anyone can recommend anything or hit me up with some parts that are compatible with my current build please comment! Thank you!

Well, what's your budget and currency?

That's a pretty dated system and was pretty entry-level when it was new, so an entirely new build could make sense depending on your budget. If you just want to spend a little, then to be fair just a GPU upgrade should do you well at 1080p60Hz. I'd definitely upgrade GPU before CPU.

That said, I'd be adding an SSD to the system before even considering anything else.

Oh sorry, I actually have an Samsung SSD, and I have a 60hz monitor and 144hz. (144hz for gaming)

Wanna spend around $300 (USD) max, less if possible!

Therefore, can you recommend a couple GPUs that would fit best?!

Thank you, sorry for missing information!

Well, at 1080p144Hz, that quad core i5 is going to definitely start holding you back, even paired with a modern $300 GPU.

That said, a $300 budget isn't going to let you upgrade both CPU+GPU comfortably, so yeah GPU upgrade is gonna be your best bet for now.

For just under $300, you'll get an RX 5600XT. For just over $300, you'll get an RX 5700(non XT).
The 5600XT and 5700 are almost identical cards really, the 5600XT has just had it's VRAM crippled. So basically, for 1080p, the 5600XT should be fine. The 5700 just gives you a little extra leeway, which you'd notice if you upgraded beyond 1080p.
If you'd rather go for an NVidia GPU, then the RTX 2060 is your only option in that price range. The 2060 and 5600XT should perform pretty much identically, they just trade blows depending on the game. 5600XT is a little more efficient, and 2060 has RTX support but is more in line with 5700 pricing, rather than 5600XT.
