Haven't really kept up with any newer pc parts in the past year and a half or so but I just recently bought a PC used from facebook for a pretty good deal but it's got some older parts in it and i'm noticing the low FPS in some games and want to make some upgrades.
Currently rocking the FX-8320 with a GTX 980, on an ASUS M5A97 LE 2.0 with 16gb of DDR3 RAM Using a Thermaltake Smart series 650w PSU Case Cooler Master MCY-B5P2-KWGN-01 MasterBox Pro 5 Monitor is a 144hz 24 inch monitor Have a 248gb SSD and two 1TB Hdd's. Was hoping to sell those old parts and keep the rest, and then add $250 to the total so in the ballpark of about $400-450 in upgrades, could possibly spend a little over that but mainly looking for pure FPS performance, graphics aren't a huge deal to me I'd rather play most games on medium settings and keep steady above 60 fps. |

That CPU could use ryzen 3 or 5. However youd also need to upgrade the motherboard if you plan to use ryzen 3 or 5. And to use DDR4 RAM (cant use ddr3 with new motherboards). Whats your ram speed? |

A new motherboard and a Ryzen CPU would really be the best upgrade, the 980 though not king of the crop anymore is still respectable, I still use a 980ti as my backup card, it's never failed me in any of todays current games, so a regular 980 isn't too far behind it, and I think with a new motherboard, new CPU, and proper DDR4 RAM, would make for an overall faster system. |
