Extatic wrote Tbh i don't know what to think about covid-19. Some parts of the media are sugar coating it saying stuff like "its just like the flu and if you do get infected its only going go be a moderate illness for 2weeks" and the other half is saying "get prepared make sure to use hand sanitizers and washing your hands ( which you should be anyways ) and stock up on food" there isn't really a direct path saying what you should really do to prepare and the governments always sugar coat this sorta stuff so its like wtf do we actually do? honestly i feel like the media and social media are instilling fear in people and causing havoc. More than half of the cases of people with the virus have recovered. yes we are trying to limit the number of cases but doesn't help by causing mass panic. |

Feel like it is being over exaggerated. Think that this is just another thing to distract people from something more concerning. |

Chxsen wrote It'll only get worse.. Not entirely true. As mentioned above the total confirmed cases GLOBALLY is at 115,000 Of those 115,000 only 4,000 have died. I say only because in comparison as far as numbers go, That is not that many. AS also stated above by another user...OVER HALF of the confirmed cases have made a full recovery. The thing with social media is big corps like CNN, NBC, FOX etc have realized that things can trend, and trend fast through the internet. They will take whatever topic and conversation that is popping at the time and keep a fire lit as long as they can. I have already settled this in my previous post to this thread in the first few pages. More people die annually from the flu each year (56,000) as opposed to COVID 19...... So far. |

BWA wroteThose numbers are the numbers China have reported. Most reporters have actually stopped following Chinas reports as they seem false. The way this virus spreads, there is NO way China would report only 5 cases in their entire country ~1.4 BILLION people. The US is just now starting to test. Weeks late. Statistics show:Chxsen wrote It'll only get worse.. 35 / 50 NEW tests results have came back in the Washington State Life Care Center. twitter.com/tslauson/status/12371...79040?s=20 Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington has received new #coronavirus test results for 35 residents: The way this virus spreads, there are SO MANY cases / carriers / asymptomatic people out there. That 114k CONFIRMED cases means nothing. Yes this virus does not have a high mortality rate compared to previous pandemics, you cannot treat this like "its just the flu." This is still a deadly virus. |

BWA wroteJust saying that the "half are recovered" almost all come from China (59,897/63,695) but China hasn't updated their confirmed cases. So that half of all global cases is not right.maDz wroteBWA wroteThose numbers are the numbers China have reported. Most reporters have actually stopped following Chinas reports as they seem false. So my county is banning all gatherings of 1000 people or more for 3 weeks.
twitter.com/nbcbayarea/status/123...26406?s=21 The San Jose Sharks have at least 3 home games in that time, should be interesting to see games with no fans at all if that's how things actually go down... I'm wondering now if schools will be in session or not, I know the 2 high schools have over 1000 people. On my way to dropping my girlfriend off at work this morning at 8am, there was absolutely no traffic... usually it's AWFUL at that time, it seems that all the techies working for Apple, Google, etc are all working remotely from home instead of going to the offices. Ngl I kinda like coronavirus for that one... All in all, it's crazy to see how this is affecting the area I live in. Will update if anything else happens. |

Saw this not long ago, don't know if the numbers on it are true but it definitely took away most of my concern.
