Last year, I was looking for a processor, and chose Ryzen 5 2600X. I also got my hands on Core i5 8600k, and I [Minimum post requirement for links] . In General, both are good, but Ryzen seemed more modern to me. |

For pure gaming, Intel.
Anything work related, AMD. |

When it comes down to pure performance for gaming: Intel. Almost everything else that doesn't enjoy single core performance: AMD. If you do a mix of both AMD is more than likely the best bet. |

Recently AMD has gotten much, much better. If you're looking for the absolute highest performance possible then Intel no doubt however, going AMD you will get a far better price to performance ratio as Intel's are more expensive for what you get.
The new Ryzen chips are amazing I've had one in my gaming PC (2600x) with no issues whatsoever and have even played VR with no issues. I think it's all down to preference, what budget you have and what other parts you already have in your PC. |
