I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the engine is a 5.3. (86,000ish Miles)

So the check engine light came on today and i went to O'Reillys to get it scanned and to see the issue
The error code that came back was P06DD and it is for the Oil Pump.Oil sensor or something

They didnt know much about it cause the guy said that he hasnt ever seen the issue before.
It came up on the scanner saying, "P06DD Engine Oil Pressure control circuit stuck off"

They assumed it was the sensor but they werent completely sure about it. I am currently trying to do research on it online but am not finding very many solutions about it

I am just curious if anyone on her has had this similar issue or not and i am curious as to how you went about fixing it. Thank you

I'll be honest and say I'm not entirely sure but there are a couple of things which you should note.

A defective oil pressure sensor/solenoid or anything related to the oil feed in the engine is as you would expect, pretty important. There may have been something that has triggered it but best bet is to check your oil level & check for leaks around the engine, perhaps the back of it and get it to a place where it can be looked at.

Has it went into "limp mode" ? I would imagine it has. Don't ignore it otherwise you might run into mechanical failure if it hasn't already.

I checked the oil and the oil was still at the dot to where you would fill it up too. And it hasnt gone into limp mode, it just came on today but i am trying to get it fixed either tomorrow or as soon as possible so i can avoid any bigger issues

I don't know much about the newer 5.3 but I did alittle research, apparently they came with a dual stage pump. So it has a low pressure sensor. (This is why I don't know much about the 14+ 4.8/5.3 because I hate all these extra sensors they add to these newer motors. Just more crap to replace lol.) More than likely, it's probably that sensor. I think it's right next to the oil pump which means front accessories have to come off to get the timing cover off.

Best thing to do is possibly go to a chevy dealership and see what they say about that code. Could be something simple.

Just wondering, how long have you been on the current oil change. If you just replace it then I would try a different oil filter first.

Try changing the sending unit if still low oil pressure, the oil pump pickup screen is probably plugged with sludge

What's your oil pressure reading? I have a 2008 silverado and I know my oil pressure sensor is junk, mainly because it reads 0psi and well my programmer tells me the codes lol. If you don't hear a lifter tick you'll know your engine is at least getting oil. The early 5.3s with the DOD had a real issue with oil consumption/issues. Unfortunately looking up your issue it doesn't look as easy as just replacing the sensor/screen like my truck. Looks to be more electric something on your truck. Just something I found that there was a bulletin for a fix on the '14.

There is a good chance that he has resolved it in the last 6 months. I don't think it was necessary to bump it.
