I believe certain drives need to be married to the mother board but I could be wrong try hitting up one of the rgh sellers on here they will be able to give you a definite answer on your question |

XBLKMoD wrote So my current dvd drive is faulty if i buy a new one do i have to flash it or can i just plug it in and play? All drives are married to the motherboard and have to flash the dvd key to the dvd drive for it to work with the motherboard. Very few sellers have these tools like myself. Which the tools are hard to come by now days. Have to flash your old dvd drive key to the new drive or if it's just the laser replace the laser it swap motherboards from the old drive to new dvd drive motherboard |

if you buy the same model dvd drive you can swap motherboards and your good to go, some require soldering. or after you read the nand and get to xell you can write down your original dvd key and spoof it onto the new drive with horizon. both methods work. |
