Hi guys,

So I have a Lenovo Yoga 500 laptop, which I purchased about 2-3 years ago. The laptop works amazing except the following;

the laptop won't turn on unless the charger is plugged in. The moment I unplug it the laptop cuts off. It says the battery is 0% and charging.. but even after charging for hours, it doesn't ever seem to charge.

I don't want to purchase a new battery and replace it myself incase there is more to it then just this.

On top of this, the mousepad doesn't work.. I have tried everything online to get this to work again. I have to plug a mouse into the laptop in order to operate it.

Please can anyone offer any support on this?

Bump

I don't want to take it to a repair shop and pay a fortune if it's something simple I can do myself. So any support would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Update: So for some random reason, the mouse pad is working. I didn't do anything to it.. so I have no clue how this issues had resolved. But unfortunately the battery is still not charging:(

Pick up a fresh battery. All the key signs that it's dead. Everything else is fine since you have power going to the laptop via the charger so you know it's not motherboard / charger related.

Mouse pad hmm. Unless you pressed a function key on your keyboard to turn it off / on then the only thing that I can think of is that you've dropped it and the ribbon cable for the trackpad has come loose.

Thanks Adam!
I've been looking at getting a new battery only. Roughly about £35, which I don't mind. But didn't want to replace it unless the motherboard was damaged.

I agree, the touchpad was a mystery for sure! Hopefully it's resolved that issue.

I will order a new battery soon and hopefully his will rectify my issue!
