Before I get shot down for this post, as I've stated sooo many time's tech isn't my thing! But I need word desperately!

I've had to uninstall and re install twice now but I just give up,

After using word for a few days In a row it pops up for literally 0.003 seconds and says. " "Word couldn't start last time, safe mode could help you troubleshoot the problem, but some features might not be available in this mode" it literally doesn't give me the time to click it, i had to video it to even read what it says it literally flashes on! But even if I used safe mode I shouldn't have too.

Any idea what the issue is? I've tried using that Microsoft repair tool and it doesn't even pick up an issue. And even tho word does this, the rest like PowerPoint and excel are fine??

Thankssssb

I found this webpage useful.

google.com/amp/s/windowsreport.co...s-8/%3famp

Hopefully one of the steps will help with fixing your problem.

Did you get the issue sorted? It's asking you to boot into safe mode as it recognises the last launch was unsuccessful e.g. Word crashed, power to your PC was cut.

Once you boot in using safe mode, it won't ask again if you close Word properly. If you're still having issues, drop me a message.

If the automatic safe mode doesn't load for you, try the steps below in the spoiler, then follow the above steps.
Find the shortcut icon for Word.
Press and hold the CTRL key and double-click the Word shortcut.
It will prompt you to boot into safe mode.

Try repairing the application by just going to "program & features" in your control panel and clicking on Microsoft Word.

Running Safe Mode can also be done by pressing "windows key + R", and then type in "winword /safe" to launch word.

Safe Mode removes any plug-ins you may have that are causing the start-up to fail. If Safe Mode STILL doesn't work, it's likely what Sean said, updating your device drivers could lead to a solution.

Interesting - conw4y has already stated he used the repair tool to no avail. I weren't aware there was an update out for Office that was causing issues.

What version of Office are you using, conw4y? Have you tried updating with Microsoft cumulative updates as that would repair any internal software issues if Microsoft has released a patch?
