So after Modern Warfare completely put my pc to shame and made me realize 8GB of RAM is not enough in this day and age, I have decided to upgrade my PC. I will be looking to upgrade the CPU, Motherboard & RAM due to moving from DDR3 to DDR4. I have an idea of what I should upgrade to but its been a while since ive looked into PC parts If anyone has any suggestions or anything I might of overlooked please leave them below

This could work and is a decent change. If you have the money I would go for the Ryzen 7 3700 but the R5 3600 is very good as well.

Edit: but before jumping straight to it, you could wait until someone like @Adam or @21 or any of those nerd heads get on and get their opinions as they definitely know more than me.

Thank you I did look at the 3700k but I felt it would be overkill (and its a bit out of my budget ) as I dont have much desire to OC and I've heard personal reviews that the 3600 idles at around 4GHz and is a solid CPU for gaming overall.

We need a bit of a budget before we can suggest. Currency as well.

There are a few options and the simplest one would be to jump to the current generation or previous in the sense of AMD; or you could look around for a used i7 4790 and a matching set of RAM. Though prices may vary.

Give us a budget and we will gladly help out. Also, strictly for gaming, or do you have other intended uses? if so list them as well.

Overkill doesnt exist when you can always upgrade gpu and stuff later in my opinion, but if you arent liking the price then yes the R5 3600 Is super solid

My budget is £350 (GBP) at the moment but I could potentially stretch it if needed. I will be going off to university so I will be using this computer for gaming, coursework and potentially Photo & Video editing but my PC handles the latter of those tasks fine. I did look into just upgrading my RAM but I felt like if I was to upgrade now I might as well tackle the other pieces of hardware (CPU & Motherboard) that will cause potential issues in the future.

Also am I making the correct move by upgrading now? Or should I be waiting for other models to be released?

Don't buy an Asus B450 mobo, they're not great. If you're going to go B450, get an MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, but they're 120 quid now which is over-priced for them.

Asus' B550 boards are mostly good, except the really cheap ones, and their X570 line-up is pretty much all good.

Don't pay 70 quid for a 3200MHz kit of RAM. 3200MHz should be 60 quid, but either way I'd aim for a 3600MHz kit, especially with an R5 3600+B550 mobo.

Thank you for the help, this seems like the perfect list for my budget , I had only looked at B450's due to a friend recommending them and not being aware b550 was released recently but I will defiantly be opting to go for a b550 board now. Thank you

If you are looking to change from Intel to AMD I would get the Ryzen R5 3600, Pretty much all of the Ryzen processors are amazing
