Treyarch stated that previous market data indicated a majority of gamers did not play the campaign;
and when the campaign and multiplayer portions were sold separately,
people only bought the multiplayer portion.
Dan Bunting, co-head of Treyarch, was quoted as saying "90 per cent of our players are playing multiplayer".
While I'm a little skeptical of that it's so high,
I do believe that there are a lot more Call Of Duty fans who play the multiplayer portion a lot more than single-player.
So there you go. The official reason is there's a huge lack of people who play single-player.
