Hi there, not sure if anyone has done one before on this site so feel free to let me know if that is the case!
This is a draft! It will be updated accordingly. Feel free to comment or PM to correct me or suggest an addition. This tutorial assumes that you actually own the game on either Steam or Epic Game store. Be sure to check the end of the post for all the resources you may need during your creations. -First of all make sure that you have already run the game once.. -Then locate the folder with the save file you want to modify. The default directory should be as this; C:\Users\(your user name)\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 3\Saved\SaveGames\(a bunch of numbers). From there, each save is created with a number depending on the date of creation (lower number means the save was made earlier) You can edit the file directly from the save folder or copy it somewhere else. You can modify the file while the game is running but only drop back the save file in the folder when you are in the main menu and switch characters if possible (or back out to the title screen) or else the game WILL NOT use the updated save. Do not forget to rename the file to remove the "edited" part. -You can now start editing your character in the editors available online. I'll link a few in this topic but i personally use http://bl3editor.com/#/ by Baysix#2208. The reason i use this one is because most of the parts have a short description next to it which allows to directly see what you are adding to your item. Importing existing items or create your own
-If you already have a code (bl3*******), paste it in 1A then click on "import"(1B). -If you want to make an item from scratch; click on "add new item(2) https://i.ibb.co/T25Dnhm/Capture-d-cran-82.png -First select a balance for your item. This is the way for the game and the editor to know which parts can be used on your item. https://i.ibb.co/2kLrtQc/Capture-d-cran-84.png -You will now see on the left side a list of parts. These are all the parts that your current item can spawn with in game. That doesn't mean they are all on at the same time however! https://i.ibb.co/pfqXH7q/Capture-d-cran-83.png -If you tick the "all parts" box, it will show an updated list of parts for that brand and weapon type. These parts will work but your item will not be a legitimate item anymore. https://i.ibb.co/x858ChL/Capture-d-cran-85.png -You can now add parts to your item. Some parts like barrel accessories (01_A,02_B,...), grips or body pieces can be stacked to multiply the stat bonuses, while others like the mag, the element,underbarrels or material do not give any bonuses when stacked. -The material is the default skin of your gun. You can use the skin linked to your gun rarity (01_common, 02_uncommon,..), or you can also use materials from uniques and legendaries. -Next up are the anointments. These special effects cannot be stacked and you are limited to 15 per item. -If you want to scale your item to mayhem levels, you need to add the corresponding annoint. https://i.ibb.co/PFkF0cF/Capture-d-cran-86.png Basic rules
-You CANNOT mismatch brands and gun types. For example, no torgue parts on a vladof or a shotgun barrel on a SMG. The editor i provided above will prevent that from happening but if you decide to use other methods like CheatEngine and force it, the item WILL disappear. However, you can make what is called "hybrid items". These items allow to keep the original item but with a different model. For example, a rocket launcher with the model of a pistol. It will look like a normal pistol but will shoot the rpg rounds from the original item. You can also do the same with artifacts to equip them on grenade or shield slots. I'll add a tutorial for these items at the end of this topic. -For all weapons, ALWAYS add a body piece or it WILL NOT spawn. For example, on Dahl SMG, use the highlighted part. https://i.ibb.co/7R3G9Wb/Capture-d-cran-24.png -When creating your weapon, please refer to this picture for the barrel parts. Combining the wrong barrel parts will prevent your weapon from spawning. https://i.ibb.co/bzhR60z/Sans-titre.jpg -If you want a gun that doesn't consume any ammo or need to reload, simply removes the magazine. For Cov weapons, you will need to stack up parts that reduce the heat per shot. Making hybrid items

The http://bl3editor.com/#/ has been updated.
It now has better description for parts, including the stat bonuses,and fixed typos. It also supports hybrid items, both importing and creating! The process is the same that on other editors; simply change the inventory_data to whatever weapon type and manufacturer you want. |
