Ninja wrote Well put it this way;

Day - not pronounced "dah"

But it's up to where you are US or UK.

Edit: here's some words for example;) Daytona, Dangerous, dashboard, dandelion. Imagine prouncing them "dah"
you forgotten ca/canada(which uses uk english anyways) so i forgive you on that part where you said its up to where you live.

ot: both are the correct ways i tend to say top one because you know theres no wrong or right way as it depends on your speech and where youre from, to me dahtah doesnt sound right compared to daytah, dahtah sounds like da da, considering i use both uk(us and uk english), so when someone says dahtah i always say whats that or are you calling your data your dad, honestly though considering it has one t its pronounced daytah, some people say dattah idk why but its just weird on how the way its pronounced as each language has different sounding words in english, so i would say it depends on the place youre from

Refer Oxford dictionary online.. You can hear the pronunciation there.. the word "DATA" contains "Dipthong" (/e/).The same diphthong in word "Data" contain in "Rain". I hope you will be able to understand how to pronounce it taking this as example. "Diphthong" means two vowel sounds in a syllable.
