Hello all,
I've had this laptop for about 5 years now and have downloaded countless Jtag/RGH files over the years and to make a long story short, it's not performing how it used to when I first got it. It takes forever to load some pages and I keep getting pop ups. I'm just wondering if there's any software that I can purchase that would clean up my pc for me and make it run faster? I was using Norton but it just ran out but that didn't really help the speed issue. I appreciate all responses, thank you.

No idea about the Jtag/RGH but I can help with speeding up the laptop.

Just out of curiosity, what is the spec of your laptop?

From the little information that you have given, I would recommend reinstalling Windows 10 for a start. Having a fresh copy of Windows always helps when trying to revive the speed of an older laptop as it gives you a solid base to start at. (note that if you do reinstall Windows, make a backup of any files that you don't want to lose)

On Windows 10 I always recommend disabling all the background apps that are automatically enabled and running in the background as default. You can do this by going into Settings > Privacy > Background Apps > OFF.

Would also recommend changing your power options to High Performance mode. You can do this by going into Settings > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > High Performance Mode.

Now you're in High Performance mode, click Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings and change Turn off Hard Disk and set to 0. This ensures the HDD doesn't sleep and is constantly performing.

Disabling unused apps on startup will also give you a little performance increase as they wont be running in the background using cpu power and memory. You can disable these by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc and clicking the Startup tab. Right click and disable any apps that you do not need starting up when you first power on the computer.

If you can't do it yourself, CCleaner generally does a good job of decluttering your computer of unwanted files and registry edits. Once downloaded, click Run Cleaner let it do its thing. You can do this every week or so as a low maintance way of keeping ontop of any temp files stacking up.

If you don't plan on reinstalling Windows, I would recommend you download Malwarebytes and run a scan. This will scan your HDD and detect any potential malware harming your OS. Download the free version, then uninstall after you're done.

All opinions are subjective, but I'd stay clear of Norton. Protection aside, Norton is quite demanding and uses qutie a lot of cpu power and memory. Windows Defender does the job as a lightweight antivirus and it comes free with Windows 10.

If you have any questions PM me, hope this helps.

To add to the above reply.

I would try to avoid any registry cleaners as these can do more harm than good. CCleaner is good as a general clear up but try to avoid the registry side of the program. Your mileage may vary after a registry clean with errors and software not behaving correctly..

As it's been asked about what the spec of your laptop is, if it hasn't got a SSD, might be worth investing in one to help bring life out of a older laptop.
