the title pretty much already sums this up, but of course lets get started.
Now updated run on retail mode: Video for those who don't like to read: How to setup Windows98 and play games: I will write up a guide on this soon! I will note at around 2 minutes in the video, he uses FTP ( You can simply open File Explorer on your computer and in the search bar put " ftp:/xbox " this will connect you to your xbox without the 3rd party software. Dev Mode Method: { Cost 20$ } Firstly, there is a small fee for this ($20 or £14), sadly.. because you need to be an xbox developer to get your console into developer mode, there is one way of using this without the payment fee, I'll get into that later.
Head over to your Xbox Series S/X and search for " Dev Mode " Do not download Dev Mode Activation, this is for the Xbox One. It will not work correctly. Image of correct one: Direct Download: microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-dev-mo...erviewtab# Run the App on your xbox, it'll ask you to head over to: aka.ms/activatexbox - From here you want to sign up to be a Developer - Fill in all the information it asks you for! Once you complete payment go ahead and read the next step Once you've signed up to avoid more hassle head here: partner.microsoft.com/en-us/xboxconfig/devices simply press the top right plus symbol & hit activation code (this is displayed on your console app) Once you're activated you should see an option to switch into Dev Mode & Restart your console. Image: Your console should launch into Develeoper Mode - Before anything else go to " Remote Access Settings " Setting up a username / password. - now from here you'll need to go onto your computer and in your url bar put the IP & Port shown under " Remote Access " Example: 192.168.0.x:11443 Image: Right! from here once you enter the IP you should see this Image: head over to: retroarch.com/index.php?page=platforms and select " xbox one " it will download a UWP File. Follow as I do in the gif below once you've downloaded RetroArch: Once you've done this, you'll want to add a test account, just click " Add User " and enter your xbox information, this is needed to use anything in Dev Mode. You cannot do the next step, unless you go back to your console and launch RetroArch Once! Now in order to your own RoMs & Bios, you'll have to navitage with the left hand side. File Explorer > LocalAppData > RetroArch > LocalState > Downloads ( Put RoMs Here ) File Explorer > LocalAppData > RetroArch > LocalState > System ( Bios Go Here ) Example: I will not provide you with RoMs, Bios or anything here on TheTechGame, you'll have to find them yourself ( or use your personal collection from real life but they're easy to find regardless. Right. If you do not want to pay there's only one way of doing this! You'll have to join the devs discord: discord.gg/xEhmm8y72r // This method will only work until the 25th! - Go over to Announcments in the Discord and go to the Google Form, enter your Email < Xbox > & your Discord Name! he will whitelist you so you can download RetroArch on your Retail Verison < None Dev Mode > this is very limited, so good luck. I'll update this if I missed something or if you have questions feel free to ask. I can't show you much more as I don't have a capture card & the streaming app does not work in Dev Mode. but it's pretty straight forward. More Information on this: - Retail Verison is not talked about here, as it's a new thing. also, he talks about PS2 Emulation coming, it's already here you can find out more about that in the discord also. have fun and play those damn games ;) Update: 16/08/2021 PS1 Emulator! github.com/stenzek/duckstation Video on this!: |

bump, thought I'd add the video to show how this is done on Retail Consoles ( no longer requires Dev Mode - Doesn't cost you 20$ )
- PS2 and many more has been updated and added to this, I've been playing a handful of games such as Simpons hit and run and many others on my retail for about a week now. You can also run Windows 98 and Windows 98 Games straight from your Series S/X It is much easier to use and way more support now! for other support here is Doms discord server: discord.gg/yfD6fMFchg - this is where you'll find all the information, support, fixes updates and much more. |

Dosis wrote this is dope, man ps2 I think was the best classic console and 360 after that For sure, I've been playing all the old child hood games that I remember best part is they run super smooth, been having an absolute blast playing through all the games I can possibly think of and it's as easy as dragging and dropping them from your PC through FTP onto your console or even onto a USB if you've got a USB |
