This is a step by step guide on how to properly & safely secure a gamertag/account & extra information.

Extra information before making a purchase;

If you're buying a gamertag be sure to remember, if it has been signed into using a console then if they plan to scam they can pull it back (take back the account using the console ID's) so make sure you're buying from someone who's trustworthy or to a degree of trust. Make sure it has either been removed from the list of devices. Tutorial on how to do this is below.



Now for the securing part, this is where it comes down to properly securing. If you wish to add further security, I'd suggest adding 2 Factor verification or even using an app that saves & protects your information.

1. Once signed into your account you've purchased, click the drop down menu located on the top left of the screen.

2. Select/click on the tab "Security".

3. Scroll down to "Security contact info" & select "Update my info".

4. This is the slightly difficult part, you'll need to contact the seller in order to obtain a security code (if it asks for one)

5. Once on this part, click on "add security info" (make sure that you have permanent access to this email or number you're going to use. Follow the steps it takes you through.

6. Make sure to remove the previous owners details and replace it with your details. Again, follow the instructions on site (verifying codes etc)

Last step & final instructions, remove any billing information. Again, this can be potentially used to pull back the account so it's import to remove & replace with your own information. Simply follow this link and go from there;
