So I happened to get my hands on a RTX 3080 about a week ago (free bobby shmurda) and it's been running great. I was playing Rocket League a couple days ago and randomly all 3 of my monitors lost signal completely. The rest of my PC was chugging along, I could hear the game playing through my headphones and "react" to my button presses, just no signal. I restarted my PC thinking it was just a fluke, but I got nothing -- still no signal. Tried taking out the GPU and reseating. Took out the power going to the card and putting them back in, tried unplugging display cables etc. Nothing was working. I figured id give RAM a shot, since sometimes that causes issues and sure enough after pulling one of my 4 sticks I got signal! But I'm not entirely sure if the ram was the issue. Like, surely it is right? But why would that cause me to lose signal instead of system crash then failure to POST on start up? If it's RAM that sucks but w/e ill buy more but if its my GPU oh lawd

Then I had this interaction in a discord server:

So now I'm second guessing myself. Is it my RAM? idk this has been a top 10 bruh moment for sure any help is appreciated

Take all of the sticks out, try them individually one by one. See if it boots or not.

In quite an interesting turn of events, I decided to try the dead ram stick again. It's now working again my PC posts fine and plays games. I am now even more confused than before

had the same thing happen to me when i first built my current rig. from the black screens but still running to the never POST'ing when booting. i tried new ram, ordered a replacement gpu, literally everything i could think of. slapped a new motherboard in and it solved the issue and has ran fine ever since. turns out the motherboard i had just bought was used LOL

Saki wrote randomly all 3 of my monitors lost signal completely.

Driver crashed

Saki wrote I could hear the game playing through my headphones and "react" to my button presses, just no signal.

Windows changed audio outputs due to driver crash. Fairly normal.

Yeah, doesn't seem like a RAM issue at all.

I'll link This incase you've not seen it. Could be this. I'm sure Nvidia released a driver update to fix it but I'm unsure. I don't really keep as much of an eye on hardware as I did before.

Start from basics - Re install drivers using DDU and go from there.
