the lexus its not even a comparison. style is better and all around lexus is a better company and will run better.

Never been a fan of the Lexus, id go with the R32 Mk4 golf if it was me to choose.

All comes down to personal preference, personally I'd opt for the IS300. Doesn't take much to have them looking good, add a cheap turbo kit and you'll have some fun with it. I'm assuming you mean the early 2000s IS300. Don't get me wrong, the MK4 Golf is a great car in its own right too.

Well I mean a bunch of factors go into this between the two cars, most obviously you're looking at condition vs condition. Obviously these are two used vehicles so overall what shape and maintenance has been done is a huge factor.

Overall the Lexus will be better to own if you are mechanically inclined, you will be able to perform most maintenance on your own. You get a good base engine which is nice and more reliable with a ton of support. Good looking car overall as well, plenty of support in the aesthetics department as well. Depending on where you live the car comes auto only (USA) but that may not be a concern depending on where you live, BUT it is RWD so if you have to deal with snow and this is your only car you may want to consider that.

The R32 is AWD and is a fun car overall which is nice but you do have to deal with MK4 problems and cheap OEM parts. They are manual (USA) which is nice and can also hold some good power. The R32 is relatively low key in aesthetic if you want something that does not look super hot boi. The VR6 is a tricky motor but with some supporting mods and a turbo they can rip.

In conclusion the Lexus is most likely the better choice as a car overall, maintenance, potential and cost. In reality it depends on your situation and goals with the vehicle, and again as I said it all depends on the existing condition as well.
