Bayern executives are probably fortnite dancing in their offices right now while clearing some space off their trophy shelf for a decade of CL trophies
@James bouta have a new euro competition to cry watching Arsenal flame out of every year Being serious though I can only imagine the nightmare that this will be with injuries and player maintenance. Having high-pace games this often against top euro (arsenal lmao) competition on top of domestic schedule really seems like a trainwreck waiting to happen, outside of the billions of $$$ the clubs will probably make being able to structure their own deals. The combined legal teams of the clubs + JP Morgan will honestly probably just be able to litigate this to the bitter end with UEFA, their pockets are about as deep as the mariana trench. I did see some people on reddit calling for players on these clubs to be penalized and disqualified by FIFA from international competition etc which I think just sounds stupid, being contracted to one of these super league clubs doesn't mean you're responsible for the execs deciding they want another yacht. Not to mention I'm assuming FIFA cares little about this unless their pockets are being lined by someone (monkaS). I'm assuming the clubs are looking at giant fines and penalties from their domestic leagues, but if the math on the money they stand to make from this league outweighs the penalties then they'll just chalk it up as a cost of doing business I assume. *Edit: Also seeing that it's likely UEFA will be booting RM, Chelsea, Man City from the CL semi's very soon, PSG about to get the biggest asterisk next to a trophy of all time? |

Fine/sanction the owners, bin off the whole concept of the ESL and carry on as normal. It's not the fault of the players, club stuff or anyone else it's the billionaires more concerned about the wealth of the shareholders than the good of the people.
As a tottenham fan i expected this level of shithousery from ENIC, but the moment UEFA threatened the progression of the players through international and european football was when it all went to far. From the foundations of the league, e.g. Man Utd, LFC, Arsenal etc. it's appalling. No one expected better from Spurs, Madrid or anyone else. But let's not forget, this isn't the first time someone tried to buy the league. Sky did it in the 90s, and it did nothing but benefit the game. But in today's game, having to pay 3+ providers just to access every game of the season, this was an effort to better the sport but unfortunately it was driven by greed and gone about the wrong way. Watching the best teams square off week in week out waters down the quality of football. Having to wait a whole season just to see if Liverpool play Juventus, or Chelsea play Bayern just for that nostalgic buzz it what makes the UCL so worth watching. But the UCL format is outdated, boring and needs configuration. Either way #ENICOUT and RIP the Billionaires. |

I find it funny how quickly the teams backed out of it lol. But hopefully this kind of stunt will get UEFA to restructure and modify the current Champions League format. |
