I just bought a series s and I've been struggling to sign in to my account, I've tried verifying my identity, it gets denied, I no longer have access to the phone number to get a security code, I've emailed Microsoft and even tried talking to the bot, no help. In order to request a call you have to sign in so it's countless loopholes, at this point I'm considering having someone hack my account to change the password. |

I think with you failing to identify yourself with your account you may struggle unless resetting password option works, but need access to the email of account of course.
Not much help I know but still better than Microsoft no doubt. They're useless Best of luck! |

EnjoyingHell wrote i have access to the email but not the phone number So with the email can you not reset password? With that you should be able to access the account and change contact details via Xbox.com |

it doesn't give me that option all it does is send me to a screen to send a code using a phone number from years ago, then once i hit 'dont have access to these' it sends me to recover account by verifying identity. no where in this process does it give me an option to send info to my email, its driving me crazy. |

That is frustrating. I have had this problem before and I'm not 100% sure how I overcome the issue, perhaps I got lucky with remembering my password after many attempts. I think then maybe the best option is the support Microsoft team. But I definitely recommend using Xbox.com and not the console itself to recover it. Sorry I cannot help with this but good luck with getting back into your account. |

If you made any purchases on the account with a credit card, you can use that as identity if you can you prove that the credit card belongs to you. |

The most recent one i can think of was my nephew being locked out of his account about a year ago, we made the account for Christmas and i didn't have access to both the email and the phone number.
First things first, call them and talk to someone, the people on the chat know little to nothing. And the support bots just send you to the same things. Tell them you just upgraded and you can't sign into your account, you've been auto signing in for years and you don't have that phone number any more, tell them the phone number that was on the account and that should be enough information. If they need more info tell them you know previous passwords, when and where the account was made and last purchase. I had to go through a lot of hoops also but in the end i got it back for him. |
