Hi Guys,

I want to get into drumming, especially now I can set some sort of kit setup up into my home when I move in.

I'm conscious about neighbours so maybes an electric kit would do for now?

No idea, someone help!

Be conscious of hearing loss/protection and tinnitus or you'll end up like me sleeping to white noise. And electric pads can be a lot of fun if you wanna learn, also will branch your mind into audio and sound production cus that's super important that I didn't learn till after school. Electric kits are good for learning technique and mixing in general

I can't relate much to jammin on the sticks since i started out with bongos, but my best friend in high-school best drummer in state trained on a dinky little plastic circle and it was enough for him to become crazy at jazz drums.

Also, I noticed as a teenager I heavily struggled to grasp irregular rhythms but after years of beatboxing and listening to music like Shpongle I notice how easily I pick up on the rhythms now

Brilliant, thank you. Can you recommend any kits as such?

My Dad is a drummer, played in plenty of bands but I don't want to ask him as I really want to surprise him next time I see him. I know drumming isn't a 5 minute job but I've not seen him in over a year now due to COVID (he lives in Spain).

Thanks.

Your best bet for your wallet would be to get a used set off somewhere like craigslist thats still in decent shape, if you were to upgrade anything it would like cymbals and a good kick pedal maybe a good stool. You could honestly even find some good used cymbals from sets on place like craigslist, but those what you will probably replace the most.

Just make sure you have all required parts ready like stands mounts before you go running around looking for one in stores unable to find one. And no need to worry about starting out with the best sounding gear, everyone starts somewhere
