Hello

So I'm looking to upgrade my pc from an Intel I5-8600K + RTX 2080 to a Ryzen 7 3800x CPU but I can't decide between an RTX 3080 or the RX 6800 XT?

I've been watching a lot of benchmark videos and I can see that the 3080 is better on average but only slightly.

I have the means to buy either card but the RX 6800 XT does come in cheaper by a couple hundred £'s

So I guess my question is I've never owned an AMD GPU before so is there anything I should know, pros and cons or should I just stick with my 2080 for another year and wait for the next series of cards?

IMO Nvidia cards age better (I think this just comes down to better driver support). I personally would stick with what you already have if it's doing what you need. Hopefully, sometime in the future, the GPU market will somewhat normalize. If you NEED to get a new GPU then I would recommend just grabbing whatever card you can get at the lowest price. Alternatively, just buy a ton of GPUS and mine. That way you can justify getting whatever! I have two 2080 TIs and a 3080 going at it rn

Buy whichever you can get. Look for 3080s around $1100.

To get good prices, camp at Best Buy for a Founders Edition (FE) card for $700 or get lucky with AMD Direct for a 6800 XT at $650.

Good luck.

I would buy whatever you can get your hands on. They are all good cards for the most part.

If the 6800XT is significantly cheaper, that's what I'd be going with. If the price difference between the 2 isn't huge, then I'd go for the RTX 3080. So the 3080 is the better option IMO, just depends how much extra you're willing to pay for it. That's obviously assuming both are available.. in the current market, if I was buying, I'd just take whatever I could get my hands on
