I have been asked by my mother to come up with a list of PC parts for my sister and have a budget of around £1,000. This budget does not include peripherals etc as we only need the tower. This PC will be used for VR (mainly VRChat) as well as other games and won't be used for any other kind of intensive workloads.
I was thinking for getting a 3060 for the GPU however that might be a little out of budget when taking the rest of the parts into account. The build needs to have Wi-Fi connectivity (either built-in to the motherboard or an internal card works). RGB is not essential however it is preferred so maybe having a RGB case and RAM would be good enough. I would have put this list together myself however I feel like one of you guys would be able to come up with something better than me. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

I went with an Intel Alder-Lake build. At every price point, Alder Lake is on top for gaming. I went with the most budget-friendly case that comes with RGB fans, RGB hub, and a glass window. As requested, RGB RAM is included as well. I got you a good PSU that you will be able to use in the future if you beef up this system. As it is, this system utilizes the stock Intel cooler.
Based on the type of use you described, this CPU honestly is probably overkill. However, this will last longer than a system with a lower spec'd CPU. So I chose longevity over immediate value. If you have budget flexibility, you can add more storage, or swap the case out for something you prefer. Cases are subjective of course. I sourced this parts list on Scan.co.uk. Intel i5 12500 6c/12t CPU MSI Pro B660M-E mATX Motherboard Corsair Vengeance DDR4 16GB 3200m/t RAM Western Digital Blue 1TB NVME SSD ASUS Nvidia RTX 3060 Graphics Card CoolerMaster 750w Power Supply MSI MAG Forge 100R Mid Tower RGB case with Glass window Total Inc VAT: £1007.00 EDIT: Sorry, for WiFi connectivity just grab one of these usb dongles. I found one on Amazon.co.uk that I recommend. TP Link USB WiFi Adapter. |

PCPartPicker Part List
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor (£184.99 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Asus PRIME B550-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard (£74.51 @ CCL Computers) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£114.90 @ Alza) Storage: Samsung 980 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£88.99 @ Scan.co.uk) Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 6600 XT 8 GB Speedster SWFT 210 Video Card (£383.47 @ Ebuyer) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower Case (£74.98 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£49.98 @ Currys PC World Business) Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte GC-WBAX200 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax PCIe x1 Wi-Fi Adapter (£34.99 @ Scan.co.uk) Total: £1006.81 Something like that probably. Should be able to get an RTX 3060 for a similar price to the RX 6600XT, but the 6600XT is probably the better buy. Could get away with just 16GB RAM but 32GB isn't that expensive, so why not lmao. Plenty of alternative case options if you don't like the P400A. Run the stock CPU cooler for now, but I would probably upgrade to a nice aftermarket cooler at some point, why not improve temps and aesthetics a bit when you have some spare cash for the upgrade. Oh, I'd add an HDD to this as well, but you can do that whenever. Add whatever capacity 7200RPM HDD you see fit, I'd start with at least 2TB. |
