are you an avid Runescape player whether it be OSRS or RS3? This tutorial is essentially for OSRS and Runelite specifically but I am sure it will work with any third party client you'd like, assuming RS3 has any beyond swiftkit.. does swiftkit still exist these days? Anyways...

The goal of this tutorial is to let you play OSRS and track hours on steam, use the steam overlay while using the vastly superior RuneLite client and gain access to all the juicy features while continuing to get the dopamine rush from seeing "hours played" rise.

Here is what you need:
- Steam
- OSRS on Steam
- RuneLite and get it from RuneLite.net

I can not stress enough do not just google runelite, make sure you are downloading from the correct website which is runelite.net it is not worth getting your account stolen and losing everything.

Step One:

Go to Steam whether it's through the app or website and download oldschool runescape. Next you're going to want to launch the game and allow it to create whatever subfolders it needs, this may not be necessary but it doesn't hurt to do this.

Step Two:
Make sure you've also downloaded RuneLite and installed it to whichever directory you would install your games into, make sure you launch it once as well so it can create the folder it also needs to create.

Step Three:
Finally what you need to do is go to your Steam Library and locate oldschool runescape. From there you will right click the title and go to properties.

We're going to be modifying the launch options so instead of launching the actual Jagex launcher it will launch this client instead.

"C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\RuneLite\Runelite.exe" %command%

All you need to do is enter this code in that option and of course replace YOURNAME with whatever your username is on your computer. Once you've done that you can close it out and when you click the play button on steam it will go through the RuneLite Launcher.

One thing to note is by doing this you will not be able to get the Steam Achievements set in place for this game by doing this as it can't track that through the third party client. Just delete the text and launch the regular client if you'd like to get the achievements as well.

Here is a quick gif showing how you get to the properties/launch options on the game.

Spencer showed me this awhile back and I have been using it ever since. I love being able to get achievements on steam and it tracking my hours so it's very useful.

No problem,

I know the game tracks it itself but it's great to get steam to track those hours as well.

This is super helpful. Just got this set up myself. As someone who prefers to play all their games through Steam, this is great!

I get the feeling that being able to use RuneLite will be so helpful for a new player like me
