I switched to IEMs (In ear monitor) from over-ears and I'm in a new world.

So, for the past couple years I've been using Astro A40TRs with an Astro Mixamp and have really enjoyed it up to this point. However... I wanted to venture into something different because the weight of them were just getting to me and I also wanted to get rid of the infamous gamer headphone band indent:

I switched to these IEMs and when I tell you it's a game changer...

I have them plugged into the same Mixamp (looking for a better mixamp or suggestions atm), and they are just amazing.
  • Better soundspace
  • Better audio range (Highs, Mids, Lows)
  • Noise Cancellation
  • These IEMs are much cheaper (I know they can get pricey, though)
  • Practically weightless
  • No headphone hair/head indent

Have any of you guys ever tried IEMs for gaming or wondered about something different? Share what you use and your thoughts!

Those are interesting, I don't know if I would get those personally as I find in ears start to hurt after extended use.

I currently embarassigly rock the steelseries arctis 7, I am looking into getting a higher-quality set of headphones though as I don't necessarily need the microphone that is present on the current headset.

I can't believe you wanted to remove that wonderful indent, that's the staple of gaming right there.

Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee
Modmic 4

I do run the headphones though a SMSL SD-793ii DAC
Edit:
So I daily my Sennheiser's for normal use. There will be a time where it'll be late and night and just want to jam to music in the typical bass heavy fashion ignoring all quality.

So yea, to cut a long story, I also run V-Moda Crossfade LP2

And then comes my speakers... I think I'm compensating here but KRK Rokit 10-G3

I know this isn't a speaker post but holy hell, the KRK's really are amazing speakers. Bit overpowering for a room setup but I'm lucky enough to be able to crank these enough to warrant the purchase.
I love my music far too much

Damn near the same price a "gaming" headset but is better in every single way apart from ease of use if you're new to audio. I personally wouldn't switch to IEM's. I think you can get open backed IEM's but it's one of those things that I've never tried so I can't exactly comment on the audio side of it but I can wear my headphones for hours on end without overheating or tiredness

I agree with that sentiment. The ear tips that came along with the IEMs were actually just plain, hard plastic ones, so I went ahead and purchased some Comply memory foam tips and they work wonders. I don't even feel them in my ears

I know those sennheiser's have to sound great. But don't count them out if you've never tried them. It's a different world!

Kinda like this idea especially since I'm using exactly what you did before you changed.
