I just went down this pretty interesting rabit hole last night for the first time (i know im late) and i was genuinely shocked at how interested i was after how many hours i had spent and how much i had actually learned within that time. Was kinda cool. Has anybody either done this & actually converted their car into like their own "build"? Thought it was really interesting how all you really need is a 2x4' and a screwdriver in a lot of vehiciles and you could have a little mobile home/house on wheelz.

I'd really consider that over having to pay rent for something someone else owns and save all that money up. Maybe too easy to say but that's just my thought. |

As someone in a depressing place/past failure.. i was half tempted at 6am to move into my car this morning. 24 years old living w my mother & grandparents w only a junker car and a part-time job to my name. |

I work at a dodge dealership and have seen people convert basic 1500 pro masters into small homes basically. The one had a small cot, a desk and computer setup bolted to it and a basic generator.
Guy drives across the country taking photos and editing and selling them to companies and magazines and such. Really chill dude. Caught him on a route through PA to Niagra falls. |

I've been to several music festivals, especially electric forest, where I see a ton of people who have converted cars or trucks into mobile homes basically. One of the best I saw was a bus converted to have multiple beds, a kitchen, a living room and a DJ deck area on the top of the bus where they built a custom deck and a ladder to reach it. Super cool idea. |

I've stayed in my car temporarily, usually on camping trips.
My friend has a completely renovated van, a gaming set up in there, it looks truly comfortable... would I want to live in it? Nope, road trip in it? Hell yeah. Then there's the endless amount of people I see sleeping in their cars everyday. The number of homeless people in California is insane, but what is even more crazy is how many of those people are living in their cars and aren't seen as much as the stereotypical California homeless person. In your situation... I don't think it's for you. Try to not make major life decisions like this while you're in a depressive state, it could help temporarily, or it could bite you in the ass right away, or in the future. Stay where you're right and work on getting yourself more hours/ a better job. Good luck with everything man |

I actually lived in my car for 6 months during a pandemic and it was hard. Sometimes I don't wish to do it but sometimes I do cause it was easier to save money and to actually get the things I needed. I live with my parents now paying rent out the butt but this is something I would do is to sleep in the car. just some days of it being hot sucks and days its freezing was the best cause you get more cuddly with a blanket. hot days was horrible cause you sweat and cant get comfortable. I had ac in my car at one point and now i dont so its rough now. And boy I am proud im out of that hole right now. cause these past summers has been extremely hot. |
