What's the best way to grow a discord server? At least to get a few hundred members in.

Any tips? Instead of spamming around invite links.

That's the only way I would know how to grow it is just keep sharing it and promoting it

What type of server is it? Or what's the direction you want to take it in?

Hello miss admin. It's a server for my services although have created it to be more community based for my online presence as I build it to compound over time. Wanting to know how to get members set first to get a small active community going before it grows beyond that.

I think the first initial growth is hard for any server, that first 1k members is probably the hardest - keeping the chat active enough for any newer members to want to stay etc. The way I got my initial members was just using sites called Disboard & a site my friend has part ownership in, Discadia - you can bump your server there and people will join if your server appeals to them.

Best way to start in my opinion is make the server etc, invite friends, try keep the chat active between yourselves, and then advertise it on the said sites, perhaps if you really wanted to get members, pay for advertisements within other big social servers/get a paid ad on the sites mentioned.

I'd recommend trying to get 14 boosts for the vanity URL, you can find members on various sites offer cheap services that do that - I remember paying something like $8 for 14 boosts for 3 months.

I'd say once you've built a semi stabilised community, slowly introduce your services you can offer, depending on what it is and who it would appeal to.

Otherwise, I done it for one of my servers, I had about 3k botted members join upon first creating the server, 14 boosts, made it all look nice etc, had friends be active within it, and then when it's advertised on the sites mentioned, people will see it's a high membered social server and join, from then it semi builds itself.

I had around 800 in my server, not that many now as I don't game any more. But the way I got them in my server was simply to game a lot lol and host games. I always used a big LFG discord and then bring them in my own server and then some stayed. Make your server interesting, roles, giveaways, etc.

Here's my server, again it's not active for over a year but here you can see mine.

Thanks @Brad_ and @TOXIC.

Really appreciate the thorough advice. I'll have to get some friends to be active and make more friends in the community to get something going starting it off. Think the best approach will be dming instead of the share your discord sites since it seems like that has little to no effect.

Makes sense if I can make the private messages appealing to the right audiences promoting the community as a whole with the services included.

Just wanted to know if there was any other ideas rather than what I've seen from the many YouTube videos I watched saying the same tips.

Appreciate it guys!

In my opinion for hosting services you want to keep advertising to a minimum. Your discord will be banned and the server shut down. Bad way to make a big server cause it's always in jeopardy of being killed outright.

However if that doesn't matter you can host free services (if it's worth it) sometimes people are worth more than the money. Doing things like polls, games such as scribble.io or jackbox, frequent announcements, rules that protect everyone, and customizing the server w/ a theme and what not can all be great ways to grow.

Also you can use disboard which is a website that allows users to find your server via #'s can be used as well.

Hope that can help in someway.

Very helpful @Kim!

I have created backups of the server in case of a ban so it can be re-uploaded.

Currently working on the incentives to have active community members. Had heard about disboard but was not sure about it as was mentioned that it doesn't add many users to the server as most people join the most populated servers. Still really appreciate the help.
