Have you managed to resolve this issue? Realistically the only thing that's going to be causing overheating issues is hardware related - drivers won't tell any hardware not to work to the point your system overheats.
It depends what you call overheating - any big games such as RDR2 will get your computer HOT, if I play a game such as Rust (not as demanding as RDR2 even) for a few hours, my glass panel gets hot as to touch, the GPU gets up to temperatures of 80 degrees C, and you can feel the heat from just putting your hand over the exhaustion fan. I'd monitor your temperatures while playing a game. NZXT Cam is a good bit of software to have to monitor your system temps etc. I also have a 3080 so temperature wise it would run somewhat similar, I've never really (as far as I've monitored it) gone above 85 degrees C. The issue with prebuilds like you have is they always cheap out on a case - so my biggest consideration would be just general airflow for the specs you have, you have a beefy computer so it will get hot; I have relatively the same specs, just a Ryzen CPU and more RAM, and I'm paired with a good airflowing case and as mentioned, still topping GPU temps of 80+ C, so pair that with a what I would consider a shit case for what you've paid, you're gonna get a roasting hot PC haha. Not to also mention, you have been paired with iBUYPOWER fan's - I can't comment on them as to whether they're very good, however, I also don't really ever hear people saying their prebuilt pc fans are good. Going off your post though, as you mentioned you can emulate games fine - so its definitely not driver related in terms that hardware cooling isn't working at all, its just what seems a case of bad airflow. My recommendations would of course be a new PC case and potentially some new fans, however, that's quite a big task and going off some of your more recent forum posts, perhaps changing case wouldn't be the easiest of tasks (unless you have a friend or know of a business that offers computing services, or if you felt confident enough to change cases even). Personally in your situation, monitor the temps, and just remove the side panel when the PC gets HOT and allow more air to get in. Annoyingly these PC companies do these stupid case designs with practically full blown plastic/glass at the front with very little cut outs for air to pass through, from what I can see from the PC you've bought, its very much so that case, however, you may possibly be able to remove that front panel and in which leaves the front 3 fans open to suck more air in which could be a good shout (obviously the system would get dustier, however dust > an overheated PC). |
