im nearing the end of my bachelors degree in computer science and feel rather dumb/like an imposter that I cant answer this, i have straight A's in all my computer science courses yet I cant answer this question.
Im in need of a new laptop and have been going back and forth between a new windows machine and a macbook pro. One of my friends recommended the mac and there reasoning was developing on a unix based machine was a better experience than windows. Ive only ever "developed" (done programming assignments) on windows, apart from developing a hello world program and tracing system processes while running it on linux for an assignment, and havent had any problems. Maybe its because im so used to it i dont really notice it? Anyways, just wondering why those machines are preferred over windows machines |

They're generally more open-sourced systems that give you more control and flexibility. Plus the whole community that use them are majority some type of coders as well, lol. |

I can't speak for coders since that's not my speciality however, working in IT I can give you a tip. You can install Linux in a Windows Environment and it seems to work fairly well so you get the best of both worlds.
