Hi there! My best friend lives in a very remote area and cannot afford to buy Starlink and pay for its monthly subscription. For the past few months, he has been relying on his phone's mobile hotspot to play games online. However, he uses Verizon as his network provider, and after consuming 50GBs, he gets throttled and disconnected frequently. Has anyone faced a similar problem and found a solution? We live in the US.

Well, the only solution would to be to get an actual ISP for his home. Otherwise, he will have to continue to keep using his hotspot.

Verizon might offer a discount on their internet if he has a mobile service with them also as a FYI.

Darn, I was hoping for something like a lagswitch that causes lag without disconnecting.

Your either hotspot or have a established internet connection no in between. I'd suggest living somewhere that has it. I went through the same thing for awhile an I now have Fiber
