make sure you are reading it s mbps and not MBps. 100mbs per second is 10MB .megabits for megabytes. reset network adapter settings.
Improving download speed on your laptop can depend on various factors including your internet connection, network settings, and the performance of your laptop itself. Here are some steps you can take to potentially improve your download speed: 1. **Check your internet connection**: Ensure that your internet service provider (ISP) is providing the speed you're paying for. You can use online speed test tools to measure your connection speed. If your ISP is not meeting their promised speed, contacting them for assistance may be necessary. 2. **Use a wired connection**: If you're currently using Wi-Fi, consider switching to a wired Ethernet connection. Ethernet connections typically offer more stable and faster speeds compared to Wi-Fi, especially if your Wi-Fi signal is weak or prone to interference. 3. **Optimize your Wi-Fi connection**: If you must use Wi-Fi, ensure your laptop is close to the router and not obstructed by walls or other objects. Additionally, consider upgrading to a newer router with better Wi-Fi technology such as Wi-Fi 6. 4. **Update network drivers**: Ensure that your laptop's network drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues. You can usually update drivers through the Device Manager or by visiting the manufacturer's website. 5. **Limit background applications**: Close any unnecessary applications or browser tabs that may be consuming bandwidth in the background. This will free up resources for your download. 6. **Use download managers**: Download managers can help optimize your download speed by utilizing multiple connections simultaneously. They can also resume downloads if they are interrupted. 7. **Change DNS settings**: Sometimes, changing your DNS server settings can improve internet speed. You can try using public DNS servers like Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1). 8. **Clear cache and cookies**: Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can sometimes improve internet speed, especially if your browser has accumulated a lot of temporary files over time. 9. **Upgrade hardware**: If your laptop's hardware is outdated, particularly its network adapter, upgrading to a newer and faster one could improve download speeds. 10. **Check for bandwidth throttling**: Some ISPs throttle bandwidth for certain types of internet traffic. If you suspect this is happening, contacting your ISP for clarification or using a VPN to bypass throttling may help. Try these steps and see if they improve your download speed. If you're still experiencing slow speeds, it might be worth contacting your ISP for further assistance. |
