What is your budget and currency?
£2,500-2,700 (UK GBP) What will you use the PC for? Gaming Do you need a monitor? If not, what monitor(s) will you be using? Dual 1920x1080 @144 will stay at this rez but having a system that is future proof is the goal. Do you need a keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals? no Do you need an operating system? no Will you overclock? no Anything else we should know? Current build from 2018 pcpartpicker.com/list/Wm4Dd6 Air-cooling only with the max fans for the case, Intel only build. I plan to reuse 3 of the 3.5 HDD's from my current build for this build so this will only need a single 1TB drive for OS. current build ended up with 32GB of RAM looking for the new build to be 64. Style wise a clean looking build the case from my current build is a good hint. |

If you're ready to drop that much cash, you could for sure drop a 4090 in;
PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor (£319.00 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE WHITE ARGB 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler (£35.63 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2 ATX AM5 Motherboard (£174.96 @ Amazon UK) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory (£218.45 @ Amazon UK) Storage: ADATA XPG GAMMIX S70 Blade 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (£120.60 @ NeoComputers) Video Card: Gigabyte WINDFORCE V2 GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card (£1604.99 @ Currys PC World) Case: Fractal Design Pop XL Air ATX Full Tower Case (£102.76 @ NeoComputers) Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 - V2 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£103.99 @ MoreCoCo) Total: £2680.38 850W will work, but I'd maybe recommend aiming towards a 1000W+ PSU if you do actually go for a 4090. I honestly wouldn't really recommend it, not with them still being MSRP and especially given that it's 18 months into its life cycle lol. If you really want the best and are happy to spend, then a 4090 is the way to go but I'd have serious buyer's remorse as soon as I heard anything about next gen GPU's. Just buy the highest end GPU that you can justify buying. AMD offer better value and/or more VRAM for the same price. So if you're not tied to NVidia, then an RX 7800XT, 7900XT, or 7900XTX would be a really good purchase IMO. If ray tracing is of any importance to you, or you just want to stick with NVidia, then I'd look at an RTX 4070 Super, 4070Ti Super or 4080 Super. 7800X3D is definitely the way to go for CPU. It's by far the most confidence inspiring in terms of "future proofing" IMO, and it's going to give you all the performance you'll get in games right now anyway. 32GB RAM is definitely the minimum I'd aim for but you have the budget for 64GB anyway lol. I've included a decent kit of RGB stuff but if you're not fussed about RGB, you can probably save like 50 quid. Just make sure you get DDR5 6000MHz @ CL30 or 6400MHz @ CL32, or better lol. I've included a fairly cheap CPU cooler but honestly, it's more than enough for the 7800X3D and looks decent. Get whichever cooler you want, whatever looks nicest to you. The 7800X3D is not hard to cool at all anyway. If you're fine with the cooler I included but don't want it in white, there is a black version for a similar price, with or without RGB. I've included a 2TB NVMe SSD just because it's what I'd be buying right now, but the 1TB version is 50 quid cheaper so if that'll do for you, you can save some money. Honestly, with how cheap good NVMe SSD's like that are, I'd probably just add 2 x 2TB and have plenty of fast storage for the foreseeable. Case is going to be down to personal preference. The Pop XL Air is a good upper mid ranged case IMO. There are cheaper options that will comfortably do the job if you don't care that much about the case and would rather save money. Or you can spend more money for something that looks more appealing to you, there are quite a number of good options these days for anything over £60 or so. Like I said, if you go for a 4090 then maybe aim for a higher wattage PSU, though 850W will do the job. For literally anything else, 850W is plenty. The PSU I included doesn't have a zero RPM mode, if you care about that then spend the extra 20 quid for a Corsair RM850e or RM850x(either is fine, just get whichever is cheaper/in stock). With the Corsair units, the PSU fan won't kick in under low load, so basically you should expect the PSU fan to only turn on when you're actively playing games. Any preferences that you have or changes you want to make, I can of course help with. This is more of a starting point, and we can get it more dialed in for you. <3 |

Similar to 21's rec. The 7800X3D is a solid futureproof chip. The intel equivalent comes at a premium.
PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor (£319.00 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler (£93.57 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ATX AM5 Motherboard (£174.98 @ Scan.co.uk) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory (£229.99 @ Amazon UK) Storage: ADATA XPG GAMMIX S70 Blade 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (£120.60 @ NeoComputers) Case: NZXT H7 Flow ATX Mid Tower Case (£137.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Corsair RM850e (2023) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£119.00 @ Amazon UK) Case Fan: Noctua P12 redux-1700 PWM 70.75 CFM 120 mm Fan (£12.95 @ Amazon UK) Case Fan: Noctua P12 redux-1700 PWM 70.75 CFM 120 mm Fan (£12.95 @ Amazon UK) Case Fan: Noctua P12 redux-1700 PWM 70.75 CFM 120 mm Fan (£12.95 @ Amazon UK) Case Fan: Noctua P12 redux-1700 PWM 70.75 CFM 120 mm Fan (£12.95 @ Amazon UK) Total: £1246.93 Left out GPU; personally i'd go with whatever suits your needs best. A 4070ti would suffice and keep this within the lower end of the budget, you could go with the 4090 listed above. Similar list, the CPU/MB combo should be fine for years to come, let alone Ryzen being a proven futureproof path for the last few years as is. The H7 Flow or H9 Flow are both great cases. 4000D or 5000D airflow are also good cases. The enthoo pro 2 is a good case at a premium as well. All of the options are good choices. It really depends on what you want. Personally i'd stick with the p400. I've always liked it and the p400s respectively. I've used the p12 redux fans for a few years now. No issues, good flow and quiet. They have another slightly slower model with similar airflow. Similar to the above response, let us know what you want/prefer in a more strict sense |
