I bought MWR to play the H2 mod but I could not get the game to even start. Crashed every time on start up and I tried plenty of methods to try and fix the problem but nothing worked, ended up refunding before the cease and desist. After seeing that come out, I wasn't technically surprised but definitely saddened by the fact that is was even issued for the fact that you needed to buy one of activisions games to even play the mod and the developers of said mod werent making any money off of it. Just shows you that Activision does not care about the community and just care about money with their new game..

Truly sad to see. Would have loved to play it.

Since Red is the only one that's mentioned it. People are playing the game with a fully functional server browser and all.

I think the cease and desist was inevitable but ripping assets from MWR2: Campaign remastered without having to own the game? Was a slam-dunk for Activision.

In the end, sending those early access copies saved their behind in preserving the mod.

It made Activision a lot of extra money yet they're going to ease and desist? Odd.

It seems like they may have plans for multiplayer already; I don't think a company would get rid of something that makes them money (people buying MW2 to get this mod).

It's also their game though, they can do whatever they want when it comes to modding / profit for others via third party.

Sure, there are ways to get on the game now. But the playerbase is going to be severely hindered by this kind of rollout.
Not to mention the crazy stuff people are going to attach to this exe as it's being released on google docs and shit like that.

I hear ya, but this was not at all the way to go about any of this.

It made them $20 (less Steam's cut) and it takes the core fanbase away from the new hyper-monetized adhd stimulating games with $35 skin packs.

They have no interest in releasing their version of a true MW2 rerelease because a true-to-form release wouldn't be nearly as monetizable as what they have going now.
