So I just did a brand new build and I'm not even getting a bios screen to pop up. The green light for boot stays on and I have no idea what to do.. I have done some troubleshooting things like flash a bios update, reseating hardware but nothing works..
Ryzen 9 9950x 4080 SUPER X670E mobo Any suggestions? |

Leave it on for 5 mins. Unsure if this is still a thing for Ryzen but I recall on very first boot, it takes an age |

How have you managed to update the BIOS?
So the board you have needs an updated BIOS to support that CPU assuming your board has even been updated. What's your full specs and please tell me you have a previous gen CPU around to test that board |

I'd check for a bios update like Adam mentioned otherwise sometimes popping the cmos battery out and back in can fix that too. |

I tried popping out the cmos battery but it just wouldn't pop out of its little socket holder. I tried to press with a flat head but I felt like I was breaking the thing. And I tried to update the bios.. I did the flash io but nothing seemed to result from that either sadly. I have a previous Gen cpu but in my current pc so it's being used at the moment |

Update, I unplugged the HDD and it finally booted. I got windows installed and set up but now, when I turn it on, after plugging in my hdd again, I get a cpu and dram light on the mobo and it won't post again.. I tried without the hdd again and same issue.. now I'm lost all over again
Any suggestions? |

HDD sounds like a red herring. Ignore that for now
Where you'd touch the HDD is the motherboard. Have you taken it out of the case and tried to boot outside of it? Something doesn't seem right here. Either sounds like a grounding issue between the case and the MOBO and / or not enough pressure on the CPU to make solid contact with the pins on the motherboard. Try also 1 stick or RAM // known RAM that works. I did mention before that trying your last gen would be beneficial because you know that will work so if it doesn't boot, you know it's something new rather than your CPU. Mix and match, you have loads of troubleshooting tools // hardware at your disposal. Having a 2nd PC where you have known working parts to see what the issue is will help you massively. |
