After four long years of hunting pearlescent weapons on and off I have finally... FINALLY gotten the Nemesis that I have long been searching for and I have now obtained all 12 pearlescent weapons in Borderlands 1 completely legit. I used no mods or third party exploits to make farming easier, this includes no modded backpack space, no modded weapons, no teleportation, and no save editing. This took absolutely forever and if I had put all of the time I spent searching for these guns doing something productive I could probably be a contributing member of society. I have been searching for these guns across 3 different platforms, on 3 different accounts so I'm so excited this is now completed. I started looking on my Xbox 360 back in 2017 and eventually moved to Xbox One, and then to PC. I lost all of my progress during the switch from Xbox 1 to PC, and then ended up switching Steam accounts and started fresh all over again back in late 2020/early 2021.

On my main account I found 63 pearlescent weapons in my hunt for all 12. The breakdown is as follows:

Aries 1
Nemesis 1
Serpens 10
Avenger 3
Stalker 4
Undertaker 14 (lol)
Jackal 8
Tsunami 5
Bessie 4
Ironclad 6
Rose 6
Omega 1

I was well known for the undertaker for a while since it seemed to be all I could find, but I am actually surprised with how many serpens I ended up with. For a while it seemed like it was an endless stream of jackals so I thought certainly that would be in second place behind the undertaker. Through all of my searching I was only ever able to acquire one Omega and Aries which I also thought surprising. I have been searching specifically for the Nemesis for almost exactly one year. I found the Aries on 12/12/23 and the Nemesis has been the last gun to find for the entire time since then.

Overall this was an adventure and while I wouldn't necessarily recommend anyone go out of their way to do this, it feels great having it finished.

Here's some cool highlights from my pearl runs:

One of the rarest weapons in the game, a golden eridian. Far more rare than the pearls I was hunting for

My one and only omega. I found this one on 6/17/22 and never found another one

Don't forget my armory run of devastation which I genuinely have never heard of happening ever

I would like to give a huge thank you and shoutout to Petite for watching literally hundreds of hours of pearl runs and being there for when I found just about every single pearl. Also huge shoutouts to Bart, Flaw, and Elijah who not only watched during the runs but were also there when I found the Nemesis and ended this once and for all. Thank you also to everyone who has been tangentially involved or aware of my pearl hunting for the past several years.

On to Borderlands 2.

For reference, I remember watching Fold hunt for one of these around the time Covid kicked off. Someone could have started a PhD program, written an entire dissertation, went through review, submitted a final version, defended it, and became a Doctor of Philosophy in the time and effort this took.

Congratulations friend

I remember watching you first start this grind, and now I've become a Doctor of Philosophy.

Seems like we both achieved our goals, so I'm very proud of you.

Can you tell me about this achievement in Halo 3 terms?
