Okay mate - do you wanna elaborate on why Costa is perfect for your style of play? and how Aguero is completely different - or you just going to say it over and over til it becomes true
EDIT: Referring to DC19, didn't wanna continue quoting |

I don't even understand how he is closer to hazard - he plays in the exact same role as Costa - the lone man up top who can out muscle and out pace defenders. He even plays ahead of the same formation as Chelsea?!?! I literally don't get how he couldnt be more suited to Chelsea... Explain to me how a striker who plays the same role and in the same formation as another team couldn't fit in |

Great result for Chelsea and United fans with City dropping points, we need to beat Southapmton tomorrow to keep top 4 within a fighting chance because draws aren't good enough anymore. |

I see where you're coming from and in a lot of regards, I agree. My problem lies with physicality. He's able to show enough strength not to be bullied around but he can't do the bullying himself. He's shorter than Costa and doesn't have the same level of strength. Costa makes a huge nuisance of himself at set-pieces and by taking the game to central defenders (similar to Drogba). Aguero doesn't do that. He'd do a good job of adapting in the majority of games, contributing significantly to our attacking force. The problem comes when we need more strength up front. We had the same problem playing Eto'o/Torres last season (yes I compared Torres to Aguero, I know it sounds ridiculous). Both players like Aguero had enough strength to hold their own yet when our game-plan wasn't working, neither had the body type to change things up. Costa can play whatever type of game we need him to, Aguero is not quite as well-rounded (even if you argue he's overall better). The issue is not that Aguero doesn't suit our current system but rather that Costa is a little more suited. |

This made me laugh xD and again as I always say, I am enjoying having this conversation - it does annoy me when comments come in from, in this case, DC19 who will just say anything without backing it up - here, you have put forward a decent argument, however, I guess where we fundamentally disagree is the physicality. I will concede to you, a lot of it may lie in aggression i.e Costa isn't afraid to shove and tussle with the CBs, whereas Aguero doesn't typically go for defenders, he just makes it his business to get the ball past them, but strength wise, if you put Aguero next to Costa - I'd feel very comfortable in betting Aguero would come out on top - his upper body strength is hulkish. I also think that if physicality is the only issue you're worried about, I'd trade an Aguero who can shrug off defenders whenever he wants, over a Costa who's main trait is just that |

-Fletcher wrote (yes I compared Torres to Aguero, I know it sounds ridiculous) Honestly both are great players , When i said "Diego costa anyone" i was not getting mad or defensive as you put it , I was saying as you said (they have aguero , Watch out CFC) or something simular and i was saying we have a counter to that in diego , Nothing to worry about. On the aguero vs costa debate , We are discussing a player who has played in the PL for what 15 or so matches compared to someone who has been here a whole lot longer. When diego came here i thought he was a a big type of powerful ST . Assuming he was a little clumsy or a little slow like others his size ,(As i admit i didnt watch much off him before he came) but after watching him this season it is clear he is not just that type of ST.He is a beast in every single attribute a ST should have , One thing i love about costa as you mentioned is the aggression , Its as if he needs a goal every game and he will do everything it takes to get one (Some people dont like that ruthlessness to win , Jose has it aswell but i love it) I dont see a weakness in his game , Aguero is good but i would pick Costa everytime because of that desire , For example in this game diego could of shot 1-2 times and maybe got a goal instead he turned / run on with the ball and the commentators mentioned this , But before he scored he got the ball back and the commentator mentioned how (Even when he is not having a good game he is being aggressive and working hard to win the ball back) then just after he won the ball back he played a nice passing move with hazard and scored , I believe this sums him up , He can do everything and even when he is not on top form he can still help us as a team. |

CompleteDesigns wrote-Fletcher wrote (yes I compared Torres to Aguero, I know it sounds ridiculous) Fair enough mate, I respect both of yours and OhDiegoo's views - I mean personally I think Aguero is the best out and out striker in the world, and although I agree with a lot of what you two are saying - I just think he could do absolutely nothing else but strengthen you, thats fundamentally why I'd pick him over Costa |
