I just saw an ad for this device called the Arsenal Photography Assistant.
The product video looks extremely interesting to me.

I'm a beginner photographer, and I don't really know the intricacies of expert photography so this looks perfect for someone like me.
But it's not actually out yet and I want to know if it seems legit before I decide to pre-order it.
I don't know too much about these things, so any insight would be useful.

I've been in personal photography for about 3 years now and all my pictures are hand taken. Handheld pictures can be troublesome but with the Arsenal, it looks like everything is on your phone. Having the problem of getting the perfect angle without bumping your camera on your tripod causing blur seems to be extinct with this device.

Now the question if it's actually a legitimate product. Since it's on Kickstarter, its most likely Arsenal will be a selling product on the market. Every item that I know that has been pledged to be marketed, it has always been legit and ended up on the shelves at local stores or online shopping.

Reminds me of the GoPro app you install on your phone but instead for really expensive cameras.
All in all seems like a pretty dope product though!

In addition to Toms comment, I think these types of tools can be useful for certain types of shots, mainly being long exposure & setting/product photography.
If you invest in a tool like this you'll play around with it a lot when you get it but likely will find it sitting on a shelf or in your gear bag 90% of the time you grab your camera.
This appears to make your life easier but as you gain experience and extend your lens bag you will find that viewfinder beats LCD.
And this ultimately serves as using your camera in live view, with some added bonuses. Ultimately I think this could be a useful replacement multi-tool for your kit in a studio setting,
but for someone new or a grab & go style photographer (like most of us) I think you could benefit from many tools first and to learn the traditional manual methods of achieving the shots you want.
As a good photographer with the most basic of equipment can out-shoot an overloaded photographer with technique. (don't get me wrong better equipment = better print capabilities)
From experience I can tell you to get that shot sometimes you can only bring the camera and lens with you.

That's my take on this product for a beginner photographer.

I mean it's a good idea for photographers who aren't on a time crunch. I feel as if it'll most likely sit in a buyers bag or shelf
