I'm really confused...

for example this motherboard: amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BRM1RW...&psc=1

Its a LGA 1151 motherboard and says "Ready for 8th Gen Intel Core desktop processors."

but I have a i7-7700k that is LGA 1151 but I cannot use it with this motherboard

but I don't understand why... why is the socket for i7-7700k & 8th gen both the same LGA 1511 but you cant use them for all?

I was originally wanting this motherboard amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N0TEB9M/ref=tw...&psc=1 but its just too expensive for me and seems like nowhere sells this motherboard anymore:/

6th and 7th gen is LGA 1151, 8th and 9th gen are LGA 1151-V2 basically. Same pin count, different layout. Same as LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-V3.

So, you have an i7-7700k already but no motherboard? Might be in your best interest to return the 7700k and go Ryzen, or get an 8th/9th gen Intel CPU. If you're going to stick with the 7700k, you'll want a Z270 motherboard but they're discontinued so availability is pretty poor.

Here are a couple of decent options in stock;
amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N1UVO5Y/?tag=pcp0f-21
amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MU7LLGW/?tag=pcp0f-21
