Part of a PC revamp I'm working on..
What CPU should I get out of these two? AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor - £124 (Can OC to 4GHz) AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3 GHz 8-Core Processor - £143 (Can OC to 3.7GHz) If you know of any good AMD AM4 CPU's around this price (preferably not higher than £150) compatible with my motherboard (STRIX B350-F AM4) then I would appreciate suggestions, cheers! |

1700 if it was me but I'm a core & threads snob.
Either way you can still overclock the 1700 and depending on what you're using it for, Games will be fine but editing will always benefit from extra cores. |

Either is fine really. 1600x if you don't need the 2 extra cores and would rather save 20 quid.
3.7GHz is just the stock boost frequency for the R7 1700, you'd be able to overclock it further than that. for sure You shouldn't have much trouble getting an R7 1700 to 3.9/4GHz with a reasonable cooler. For the sake of £20, I'd personally go with the R7 1700. In fact I kinda did- paid £25 more for my 1700x than I would have for a 1600x. |
