I mean, a prequel to cod 4 would be pretty awesome. I didn't see where they would pick up from mw3, so I guess this means a story mode would actually be good and make sense.

More from Jason Schreier report he posted that now.

News of this year's strangely named Call of Duty leaked out via YouTuber LongSensation this morning. Activision has been showing the game to press and "influencers" (YouTubers and streamers) for a week or two now, so a leak like this was inevitable. Kotaku has not seen the game or agreed to any embargo, but we've heard from many sources connected to the Call of Duty world that it is indeed called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and that it's a "soft reboot"

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell they mean by a soft reboot?

Not one to follow COD news but this I'm keeping a close eye on. Battalion just re-released itself after a 2 year development which takes it's gameplay from COD4 everything. Am interested to see what unravels in the next week or 2. I don't do speculation or rumors but I just really do hope they have thought about what made the previous COD's, specifically COD4, successful and have followed on that route.

Same which is why I'm thinking it could be a prequel to CoD 4, it's the only place I can really see this reboot making sense really.

A soft reboot really means its returning to its core a fresh start its a reboot but keeping the core values of what MW was.

So a possible story change? Because personally I'd hate that.

Well since it's modern warfare I would say it's safe to say they will not be doing loads of things that people argue ruined cod.
This means no jet packs or wall running or specialists, etc.
I know it was tried with ww2 to bring cod back to more of its roots, but seeing as that was a total flop I don't want to say this is gonna bring cod back or anything. I just hope they can give us a fun game for once, I'm tired of playing cod for a week then getting bored of it

They could pick up where ghosts left off or like Sean said it could be the events before COD 4 which to me would actually be super intriguing!
